Technology at Bedtime

Technology at Bedtime is just a bad idea. It is a solid “NO.”

You can find all sorts of reasons why if you just google it -

Here is the first thing that came up when I googled it:

Self-reports suggest that sleep is indeed affected by technology use in the hour before bed. Such late-night technology users report less satisfactory sleep more often than those not using technology before bed. They are also more likely to feel sleepier during the day in a range of situations, including driving.Jan 31, 2019

SOOOO Mom and Dad - if this is true for the normal human how much more do you think it affects our little humans? Googled it -

Using screens before bed can affect how quickly children fall asleep and how well they sleep. You can reduce these risks by encouraging children to avoid screens in the hour before bed. It's best to keep phones and other digital devices out of bedrooms at night.Dec 21, 2020

The first reason is obviously QUALITY of SLEEP, but a deeper dive you will find that the more tech we take in the closer the bedtime, the more “junk” we take in our minds and our thoughts as we drift off to sleep.

One thing we started doing with our kids when they were litte was to take time to put each one of them to bed at night. We both visited their rooms, offered private conversations about the day, prayed over them and gave them lots of love and affirmation before they closed their eyes to fall asleep. No time or room for technology there. When technology entered our home for the kids, those devices stayed on the main floor FAR AWAY from their bedrooms!!

Now, even more than ever kids are addicted to the devices for a short jolt of attention or new information, and they are not sure even why they feel that way because it is all so new to them - WE HAVE TO HELP THEM to understand how easily they can fall into the trap of this addiction that results in wasting time, ruining relationships and overloading their minds with technology.

Technology at bedtime is just a a bad idea. For everyone.
