What is YOUR Family Plan for Technology, Dating, Substance Use?

It’s no secret every parent needs to establish appropriate ages for technology, dating, responsibilities, and those really important (sometimes awkward) talks with the kids about sex. On top of that, there is the very real pressure and curiosity of substance use like vaping, drugs and drinking alcohol. What is your plan to prepare and protect your family?

In our Family Coaching Roadmap, we’ve taken all the guesswork out of this process through a framework called The Family Protection Plan.

Here are a few tips that come from our plan…

Don’t make it about NOT trusting your kids. They are good kids who live in a world of opportunity to make decisions. It is YOUR JOB as a parent to prepare them to make wise and healthy decisions for their life. Make sure your conversation includes space for your kids to feel safe to ask questions and to learn.

Study the culture and know the outcome. Take time to understand the pros and cons of putting a phone in your 10 year old’s hand. Read books that will help you with the awkward conversations about dating and sex. Talk to successful parents who have launched their kids already and learn from both their good decisions and their mistakes. Don’t be naive to what your kids are up against, knowledge is power.

Don’t just write RULES, make a PLAN. A Protection Plan, and stick to it. A well thought out and prayed over plan will go a long way and will relieve the family of a lot of hard and exhausting discussions in the future

The PROTECTION PLAN is just one small part of our Family Coaching Roadmap, which is a system for helping awesome folks just like you cut back conflict and stress without disrupting the everyday rhythm of life. Learn more here - FAMILY COACHING
